Cobra Vs Monitor Lizard Showdown: Living in the wild can be deadly and a fight to death between a prey and a predator is quite common. But no matter how frequently such fights take place, every single one still leaves the humans speechless. A similar incident surfaced online and left the netizens stunned. A video of a cobra hunting on a Monitor Lizard twice its size was shared on YouTube. The video went viral as people curiously watched the showdown to know the result. 

The video was shared on the YouTube channel ‘Latest Sightings’. The post was titled, “Cobra Snake Tries to Hunt Monitor Lizard.”

In the video, a snouted cobra was seen trying to hunt a Monitor Lizard. The showdown took place in the middle of a road in South Africa’s Kruger. The lizard kept on moving while the snake hooked its mouth on the prey’s back. The same went on for about a minute. Suddenly, the lizard picked up pace and counter-attacked the predator, which resulted in the cobra losing its grip. The lizard grabbed its chance and ran ahead of the snake. At the end of the video, it was revealed that the cameraperson had to run as the snake was coming towards her car. Next, it was shown that the snake left while the lizard was on the street.

The video went viral as people were curious to know the end. Most people sided with the lizard and hailed its strength, while some called the animal calm for being in such a situation. The video was shared quite a while ago and has pulled a whopping 10M views from the netizens so far.

Taking to the comment section, people shared their views. “That is a savanna monitor. I had 1 for a pet for 25 years until he died of old age. I really loved him. Good old Chester was as smart as any dog if you can believe that. I bawled my eyes out when he died. 25 years is a long time to have a buddy like him,” a user recalled. “Nothing like witnessing the valiant struggle for life among nature's most dangerous predators,” added a second. “Looks surprisingly at peace for having a huge cobra biting its neck,” joined a third. “Throughout my years when I studied monitor lizards I actually learned that monitor lizards are immune to snake venom,” pointed out a fourth. “Nature is brutal and hard to watch, yet, animals are tough.
