Viral Reddit Post: Many believe that living in Delhi requires a sky-high salary, but one man’s viral Reddit post is proving otherwise. A Delhi-based freelancer recently sparked a big discussion online after sharing how he and his partner comfortably manage all their monthly expenses with a combined income of Rs 70,000. In his post titled “I earn less than 50k a month and breathe just fine in Delhi,” the man explained how they live a simple yet fulfilling life. He mentioned that his income as a freelance content strategist can vary, while his partner has a stable full-time job. Despite this, the couple says they don’t struggle with money or lifestyle needs.

They live in a 2BHK DDA flat in South Delhi, paying Rs 24,000 as rent and Rs 5,000 for rented furniture. Their monthly spend on groceries, cook, and domestic help comes to Rs 20,000. Utility bills and subscriptions cost Rs 5,000, and they keep aside Rs 10,000 for eating out, shopping, or anything extra.

They don’t have any loans, credit cards, or high-end gadgets. They use public transport and live without the pressure of EMIs. The man shared that they are trying to plan future trips within India and nearby countries. Despite having three pets, they only look after one at the moment and manage medical costs when needed.

“So no, we don't need Rs 7 lakh a month to breathe. We do it for Rs. 70,000 instead,” he wrote, adding, “We are privileged middle-class Indians to even be able to do that.” His post received praise online, with many people calling their lifestyle smart, practical, and inspiring. Many others slammed the man; there should be a medical fund and an emergency fund as well.

The post shared three days ago received many comments from Reddit users. "Watch how people come here and will try to pull you down " How can you live happily with that amount of money ".Good going, It takes a lot of courage to say ones happy with what they have got in today's social media world. Best of luck for the future!! You are already ahead of the 90% crowd mindset," a user wrote. "OP has not made any investments and has no backup for emergencies. Even more volatile considering that OP is freelancing," a second user added.

"You are an inspiration. In a country where the median income is about 30K a month, I’m always infuriated when I hear people complain about being poor on 30 LPA incomes. I earn pretty well, but if I didn’t recognize my privilege, I wouldn’t deserve it," added a third user. "In the end, you are enjoying your life and also debt-free. May God bless you and your partner," a fourth user wrote.

"Today, when I went for the shower, I enjoyed it and felt alive after a long time. I’m stressed since few days cause I feel like I’m not making any money and stuff, and in this meaningless rat-race so Idk what changed but I think its its high time we stop thinking about what we don’t have and start enjoying little things of life and be grateful for it," added another user. "If I am living with my parents, I believe 50K is enough. Talking about medical emergencies, premium insurance would hardly put a dent of 10% in my pocket. The rent is free. Metro is not that expensive. A bike can make life even better. I wish I had never left Delhi," added another user.
