In a unique move to express patriotism, Tyohaar Sweets, a well-known sweet shop in Jaipur, has renamed some of its traditional sweets by replacing the word ‘Pak’ with ‘Shree’. The shop says this move is all about celebrating Indian pride. So now, Mysore Pak becomes Mysore Shree, and Moti Pak is Moti Shree. The shop’s owner, Anjali Jain, says she wanted to send a strong message of patriotism, especially after recent events like the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
According to Jain, many customers felt uneasy with the word ‘Pak’, especially due to growing tensions with Pakistan. So she decided to take action. The emotional response after the Pahalgam attack made the change feel even more necessary.
Keeping with their bold tagline, “OrdinaryIsBoring – Tyohaar don’t do ordinary,” the shop has also given new names to its premium sweets. Their famous gold and silver-coated treats are now called Swarn Shree and Chandi Shree.

Meanwhile, Karachi Bakery in Telangana has landed in controversy. After India’s strike on terror camps, protests broke out demanding that the bakery change its name due to its link with a Pakistani city. In response, the bakery displayed Indian flags at its outlets and clarified that it was started in Hyderabad in 1953 by a Partition migrant. They stressed that the business has been proudly Indian for over seven decades.
After the post was shared, social media users reacted to it. One user wrote, "Pak ek sanskrit ka shabd hai. Ye murakhta hai." "In Marathi too, we call it 'paak', which is nothing but sugar syrup," a second user added. "If water falls on us, instead of saying 'Chhapak', we will say 'Chha Shree' from today," added a third user.
"Idiots. It comes from a Sanskrit word, which means cooking. In the Marathi word paak is used for sugar syrup; I believe it's the same in Kannada. It has no relation to Pakistan, but leave it to Cowbelters to not understand such simple things," added a fourth user. "This reflects the limited understanding of religion and culture prevalent in the country today. Consequently, terms like "Paaka Kala" may be misconstrued as the art of Pakistan, and "Paaka Shastra" as the scriptures of Pakistan. High level of Stupidity going on in this country," added another user.
