Viral Video: An otherwise regular flight from Incheon International Airport in Seoul to Taiwan’s Taichung International Airport on June 22 turned into a horrifying ‘near death’ experience for its poor passengers. Korean Air’s Flight KE189, as per the Independent, took off at around 16:45 local time, only to face a ‘deadly drop’ of 26,900 feet in just 15 minutes. As per reports, the Boeing 737 Max 8, began to experience ‘pressurisation system malfunction’ just 50 minutes after the takeoff, prompting the aircraft to take a U-turn. A video of the same was later shared online, which went viral almost immediately.

After the flight landed in Taichung, the airline rushed into action in order to ensure the safety of its passengers. Reportedly, many passengers experienced ‘nose bleeding and hyperventilation’, however, no major injury was caused as 17 passengers were later discharged from a hospital in Taichung, after their evaluation.

Switching to damage control mode, the airline also issued an apology, and stated, “We are fully cooperating with all relevant authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. We have given the impacted travellers complete support, which includes lodging, food, and travel plans.” The airline is currently looking into the matter.

The video was shared on social media platform Instagram, by the handle ‘Chen Yi Ling’. The post was captioned, “Emotions are too complicated...Just want to say it's good to be alive now.”
