World’s Largest iPhone 15 Pro Giveaway: From X (formerly Twitter) owner Elon Musk to hailed physicist Stephen Hawking, many great minds warned about the excessive use of AI, and it seems like the world has started to understand their warnings. Cases of cheaters and scammers using deepfake and AI have increased in recent times, and more people are falling into such traps. Falling victim to something similar, many people fell for a scam, where an AI-generated video of popular YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, also famous by the name Mr Beast, claimed that the influencer was giving away the newly released iPhone 15 Pro to the first 10,000 users for just $2, and asked people to give their account details. Many submitted their details but were in for a shock when they realised that the clip was a scam. The video was circulated on TikTok. “If you’re watching this video, you’re one of the 10,000 lucky people who’ll get an iPhone 15 Pro for just $2. I’m Mr Beast, and I’m doing the world’s largest iPhone 15 giveaway,” the deepfake version was heard saying. Addressing the matter, Donaldson was quick to debunk the fake clip and cautioned his followers on his social media handle.

The video was shared on the YouTuber’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The post was captioned, “Lots of people are getting this deepfake scam ad of me… are social media platforms ready to handle the rise of AI deepfakes? This is a serious problem.”

In the video, a deepfake version of the popular influencer was seen speaking about an offer. The AI-generated clip went on to offer an iPhone 15 Pro to the first 10,000 users for just $2. The TikTon handle was verified and the interested people were asked to give their account details so that the new phone could be given to them.

The cautionary post instantly went viral as most people were shaken by the accuracy of the AI and the scam. Many pointed out that the account was verified, which was further concerning, while some expressed their fear over the rising use of AI for such scams. Unfortunately, a few people also fell for the scam as they narrated their experiences of being cheated. The video was shared yesterday and pulled a whopping 27.3M views from people.
