Oscars 2024: Apart from performances, hilarious skits, drama, and unscripted chaos, there are endless other reasons why awards shows go on for hours without breaks. And the Oscars are no different. However, a particular man entered his name on the ‘legends list’ by the meme community after he single-handedly managed to pull the curtains down 10 minutes early! Yes, believe it or not, actor Al Pacino ended up saving a whole lot of time and possible ‘hype’ up after he directly skipped to the ‘Best Picture’ announcement, missing out on the nominees. The man came on the stage as a good actor and returned as a ‘legend', at least for the internet community! Reading the envelope, Pacino, unlike other announcers, wasted no time and announced Christopher Nolan’s recent masterpiece, Oppenheimer, as the winner of the Best Picture category. 

This year, it goes without saying that the ‘star’ of the much-celebrated 96th Academy Awards was Nolan’s Oppenheimer. The film took home a total of seven awards. From the Best Picture to Cillian Murphy’s Best Actor award, and from Robert Downey Jr’s Best Supporting Actor win to the movie’s Best Original Score Award, the movie bagged Oscars after the Oscars. Meanwhile, Emma Stone took her second Oscar for Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Poor Things’.

The 96th Oscars were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. 

Taking to the internet, people were quick to make memes out of the ‘Pacino moment’ as most people found the announcement hilarious. Many also pulled funny jokes and some even thanked the actor for wrapping up the thing ‘10 minutes early’.

“I’m obsessed with the way Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as Best Picture. couldn’t have been more chaotic or confusing lol- Best Picture…uh, I have to go to the envelope for that. And I will. Here it comes. And my eyes see Oppenheimer?” a user said. 

“Al pacino announcing best picture,” said a second person. 

“#Oscars: You gotta read the nominees first and then the card. AL PACINO,” said a third person. 

“They spent 20 minutes announcing nominees for every acting category and then al pacino just walks out, says 5 words, and opens the envelope for best picture like “here, damn” #Oscars2024,” said a fourth person. 

“Al Pacino announced Best Picture like this was the first time he had ever heard of a film called Oppenheimer.  #Oscars,” added a fifth person.
