There are some living species that debuted a while back and then there are some that have been on their journey for ages. Of course, none is as old as the Earth itself, yet they are old enough to have turned into fuel by now. So, for today's article, we thought to take a ride back in time and visit some of the mammals that have been roaming around on the Earth for eons. We have found about a few mammals that are considered the oldest in the world. The list was compiled by ‘oldest.org’.

Monotremes (Platypus and Echidnas)
If you are a fan of the hit animated series Phineas and Ferb, then you might be surprised to know, but it seems like Perry the Platypus might actually be from the family of mammals that have been surviving the longest! Monotremes are the oldest mammals in the world.
Solenodon
The next on the list are the Solenodons. These adorable-looking mammals have been roaming around the Earth for almost 73.6 million years. How are they not tired already?
Elephant Shrew
They might have the name ‘elephant’ in their names, but they surely are not the biggest. In fact, the Elephant Shrews are adorable little mammals that have been known to survive for 47.8 to 41.2 million years.
Monito del monte
Another mammal on the list is the cute Monito del monte. They too are not much with their tiny size, but they are believed to be surviving for 46 million years.
Shrew Opossum
There has to be something about the tiny size of these animals and their years-old survival. The Shrew Opossum is the next, known for roaming around the Earth for 37.2 million years.
Red Panda
The next on the list has to be the cutest yet. The Red Pandas are also one of the oldest mammals in the world. They have been surviving for 33.9 – 23 million years.
Laotian Rock Rat
The next tiny yet oldest mammal on the list is the Laotian Rock Rat. They are known for living for 32.5 million years.
Okapi
Probably the first not-so-tiny animal on the list, the Okapi, is also one of the oldest living mammals in the world; 18 million years.
Giraffe
The last on the list are the Giraffes. They have been exploring the Earth for 12 million years.
