Hindu mythology and the great Hindu epics have always been crystal clear on ‘devotion’ towards mothers. Every story and every god that was ever a part of Hindu mythologies, always displayed some or the other kind of lesson, where mothers and their value were highlighted. So understandably, Hindu followers have always been inspired to do their best for their parents and loved ones, especially for their mothers. However, how far, in this current age, can one go to show their devotion towards one’s mother? Well, as per this man in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain, even ‘gifting footwear carved out of one’s own skin’ is not enough.

Yes, you read that correctly, as that is exactly what the said man did! A history-sheeter from Ujjain, Raunak Gurjar, gifted his mother a Charan Padukas (footwear), crafted out of his own skin. As per the reports, the man was inspired by Lord Ram, based on Lord Ram’s beliefs that ‘even making sandals from one’s own skin is not enough for one’s mother’. The man, as it goes without saying, is a Ram devotee and recites Ramayana regularly.

“I recite the Ramayana regularly, and I am deeply influenced by the character of Lord Rama. Lord Rama himself said that even making sandals from one’s own skin is not enough for one’s mother. So, this idea came to my mind, and I decided to make footwear from my skin and gift them to my mother,” the man was quoted as saying to Times Now.

“I want to tell society that heaven lies at the feet of the parents. The father is the ladder to heaven, while the mother is the one who will make it there,” he was further quoted as saying to News 18.

As per reports, the man made the grand gesture during the Bhagwat Katha event in Ujjain’s Sandipani Nagar, which made his mother emotional.

Coming back to the ‘Charan Padukas’, the man reportedly used the skin that was removed from his thigh during a procedure, which was done after he was shot in the leg by the police.

The pictures were shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘manishaasingh24’. The post was captioned, “Ujjain: History-sheeter Raunak Gurjar got Charan Padukas made for his mother from the skin of his thigh. Raunak said- Ramayana inspired me to serve my mother.”
