Arranged marriages have become more of a trade these days, with people putting forward their bizarre materialistic demands while avoiding what matters the most; potential partner as a person. However, keeping SOME expectations that CAN be fulfilled, is not entirely wrong. Doing something similar, an unemployed woman rejected an engineer for being too ‘slim’ and for ‘earning 8 PLA’, as the family wanted a partner with ‘25 LPA’. The incident went viral on social media as the engineer’s friend shared the story on the internet. As soon as the post went viral, people began to react to it, and a majority sided with the woman.
Considering the fact that it was an arranged match, netizens sided with the woman and advocated that she had all the right to keep her demands, as she clearly had OPTIONS in an arranged match. While the rest opposed her and her family’s demands.
The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle 'peacehipeace'. The post read, “One of my engineer friends who is earning 8LPA and it's been only two years of his job and belongs to a well to do baniya family got rejected for an arranged marriage by a girl who left her job last year because she felt exhausted and not she's not doing anything now...reason for.”
“Rejection is that Package of the boy is less and he is a bit slim ...the girl's family wants a minimum 25LPA package of a boy who's going to marry their girl ...no way men are to be blamed every time about everything...when a girl can earn why did she need to be dependent like this.”

The post went viral almost immediately and received heavy engagement from netizens. Most agreed with the girl and pointed out that she was simply keeping her preferences forward in an arranged marriage, while some sided with the man. The post was shared yesterday and pulled 768K views from people.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their views. “It's fine. What’s wrong with having expectations? Also, it’s a win for the boy that she revealed her expectations clearly before marriage. Now, he will be on his way to making 25 LPA in next 2-4 yrs ( hopefully) & marry a different girl who expects him to make 5 LPA,” a user said.
“Don't take it personally but would you have agreed for your sister or any female relative at that package? I mean considering the cost of living and in today's time happiness can be bought with money. Think it this way if women are given a chance to "select" then why not the best?” added a second person.
“Girl is right here, she has every right to express her opinions, your friend should have dated and married someone his fault don't blame a girl for demands in an arranged marriage,” commented next. “Don't condemn people who share their preferences openly. It's much better than having problems post-marriage,” added another.
