India is not particularly famous for being non-discriminatory. In fact, the nation has miles to go before it actually starts measuring everyone on the same scale. Skin colour has been one of the major bases for prejudices in the country dark-skinned people are often subjected to discrimination. However, a recent alleged case of colourism against a fair-skinned woman left everyone scratching their heads in confusion. A woman sharing her rejection letter on LinkedIn claimed that the company refused her a job for being 'too fair'. While some people were left irked over the bizarre reasoning, some netizens called the whole letter and story fabricated.

Taking to her LinkedIn profile, Pratiksha Jichka, shared a screenshot of a letter that she allegedly received from the company she applied for. She informed that the letter came after the third round, where the organisation rejected her, as they did not want to create any "differences" in the team. She captioned the post, "I was rejected in final round of interview, as my skin tone was little fair for the team. You read that right, after 3 rounds of interview, 1 round of assignment, with all the relevant skills, qualifications and experience I was not fit for the role because my skin tone was fair than the current team. The hiring manager wished to have no differences in the team and so I wasn’t offered the role. (how empathetic) I wasn’t just stunned, shocked but felt really worst about what kind of world are we heading too."
