Brazilian Model Larissa Nery Viral Video: Social media is buzzing after a Brazilian woman named Larissa Nery suddenly became the unexpected face of a political controversy in India. The 32-year-old hairdresser from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, went viral this week when her old photo was mistakenly shown during Rahul Gandhi’s ‘vote chori’ claim and she’s now reacting to the bizarre situation in the funniest way possible.
In a recent video shared on social media, Larissa laughed off the confusion, saying she was shocked to find her photo being discussed in another country. “Guys, I can’t believe these people are gossiping. They’re using an old photo of mine; I was 18 or 20 in that photo. They’re portraying me as Indian to scam people. What madness! What craziness is this, what world do we live in?” she said, responding to the viral moment that made her famous in India overnight.
The confusion began after Rahul Gandhi held a press conference on November 5, where an image of Larissa was shown while discussing a voter ID scam. The Congress leader even asked the question, “Yeh kaun hai?” But Larissa quickly cleared the air; she’s not a model, and she has no connection to India whatsoever. Speaking to Luiz Fernando Menezes, a journalist from the Brazilian outlet Aos Fatos in collaboration with ThePrint, she said, “I am not even a model,” explaining that the photo was taken years ago by a photographer friend.

Her Instagram account, @larinerym, has now been made private as the internet continues to react to her unexpected fame. From memes to funny reactions, social media users can’t stop talking about how a Brazilian hairdresser became the face of a completely unrelated Indian political controversy.
"Even Zubair realised Rahul Gandhi’s team can’t get a single job right, so he did their homework himself and found the Brazilian model’s real name. Now that’s some next-level dedication," a user wrote. "Only in 2025: a Brazilian model trending in Indian politics," a second user wrote. "A foreign citizen had to come online and state that her face was used to forge Indian voters. This is no longer an allegation. This is documented electoral fraud," wrote a third user.
"Larissa’s reaction shows how unexpected virality can take anyone by surprise. It’s a reminder of how fast social media spreads moments, whether in politics, fashion, or daily life," added a fourth user. "The core of the matter is the political allegation of vote-chori (vote theft) using a misused photograph, not the model's attendance or a personal reaction to a press conference in a conventional sense," added another user.
