The queer community, along with the rest of the world, woke up to a beautiful news yesterday, March 13, as the world’s first gay footballer, Adelaide United’s Josh Cavallo, finally got down on his knee for his partner, Leighton Morrell. The footballer chose THE perfect place to mark the next chapter in his love life, as he popped the big question on the empty football stadium, Hindmarsh Stadium. Taking to social media, the footballer shared some heartwarming pictures of the ‘magical’ proposal and also thanked his football club for the proposal planning.

The picture, soon after getting shared, went viral as fans were hardly able to keep their excitement in. Cavallo opened up about his sexuality in 2021 when he was just 21 years old. The player received huge support when he came out to the world.

The post was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), on the footballer’s official handle ‘JoshuaCavallo’. The post was captioned, “Starting this year with my fiancée. Thank you @adelaideunited for helping set up this surprise. You have provided a safe space in football, one that I never in my dreams thought could ever be possible. To share this special moment on the pitch, where it all started.”
