Bolivia Plane Crash: At Least 15 Killed After Military Cargo Crashes Near El Auto International Airport; Scary Video Emerges

A Bolivian military plane crashed near El Auto International airport on Friday evening, killing at least15 people and injuring many others, Associated Press reported. The incident reportedly occurred on a busy roadway around 6 pm (local time) on Friday near Bolivia. As per the El Auto’s traffic control authority, the plane was returning from the city of Santa Cruz and was scheduled to land at El Auto International Airport, when it lost traction on the runway and uncontrolably slided to a nearby busy motorway. As per a report by the BBC, at least 11 were killed.

The cargo plane involved in the accident was a Bolivian Air Force C-130 Hercules, according to an X page SA Defensa, which is known for tracking American and global developments.

How Military Cargo Crashed On Motorway

The military cargo, which was returning from Santa Cruz with newly printed notes to be transported across the country, skidded off the runway and hit the vehicles on the nearby motorway, reported Sky News.

While the exact death toll could not be ascertained yet, the Fire Chief Pavel Tovar told the Associated Press that at least 15 people had died. The airport has been closed, and an investigation into the accident has been launched. It is yet to be confirmed whether those who died were occupants onboard the aircraft or the commuters on the busy street where the accident occurred. Officials are expected to release the exact breakdown of casualties soon.

Describing the aftermath scene of the accident, Reuters reported that social media videos show chaos at the accident site, and banknotes were all over the street. As per a report by Reuters, local authorities were forced to use water hoses to disperse the crowd as gathered around the accident site to collect the scattered notes.
