Zhou Yuan, a Chinese influencer known online as the “Godmother of Sexual Intelligence”, is facing scrutiny after authorities allege she earned over USD 3 million by offering courses aimed at helping women attract men. The programs, promoted through her Black and White Sexual Intelligence School, allegedly taught flirtation techniques, seductive gazes, and other methods to help women in romantic relationships.

Zhou, a Changsha native in her late 40s, reportedly left a career in banking to open a beauty salon before moving into coaching.

The influencer has drawn widespread criticism, with many accusing her of operating “mistress training” programs and advising women to “pander to men.” Her social media accounts were suspended last week, and, according to a Zaobao report, Changsha market regulators announced on January 30 that they had established a joint task force with public security and cultural authorities to probe her activities.

Zhou’s courses, offered both online and offline, became viral across mainland social platforms, reportedly gathering over 200,000 followers.

In one video, she demonstrated an eye-contact method, telling viewers to “form an X shape with your eyes and body”, while another clip showed her coaching women to use a flirtatious tone by “softening voice” and “raising the pitch at the end of each word” when passing on compliments to their partners.

Last year, a Chinese influencer with nearly 5 million followersignited controversy after boasting about earning 300,000 yuan in a single day by simply lying in bed.

Gu Xixi, a 25-year-old social media personality from southeastern China, made the claim during a live stream, referring to her earnings as "hard-earned money." According to South China Morning report from the South China Morning Post, her total earnings from February 8 to 16 reached 10.39 million yuan (USD 1.4 million) on one platform, with commissions estimated at 2.79 million yuan. On another platform, she generated 8.94 million yuan (USD 1.2 million) in sales over seven days.

Her remarks quickly went viral, sparking widespread criticism. Many social media users accused her of flaunting wealth and setting a bad example for young people.

Gu Xixi is no stranger to controversy. She first gained popularity with bizarre stunts, including swallowing a ping pong ball. However, her online presence has repeatedly been suspended due to "vulgar content," including insulting others and performing inappropriate acts during live streams.
