A 19-year-old youth from Kerala died after falling from the terrace of a building in Dubai’s Deira area while attempting to photograph aircraft flying near the locality, as reported by the local media . The deceased, Mohammed Mishal, hailed from Kozhikode district and had been in Dubai for around 15 days to visit his cousins.

Photography Enthusiast’s Passion Turns Tragic

According to Gulf News, Mishal had gone to the roof of a multi-storey building on November 7 to capture close-up shots of planes flying from a nearby airport. Family friend Haneefa K K said the teenager was deeply passionate about photography and often experimented with angles and aircraft shots.

Witnesses told the local media that while trying to position himself, Mishal’s leg got stuck between two pipes fixed on the terrace. He lost balance and fell from the building, suffering severe internal injuries. He was immediately rushed to Rashid Hospital, but doctors could not save him. A social worker quoted by Khaleej Times said Mishal was alive when he was taken to the hospital but succumbed shortly after.

Family In Shock; Repatriation Underway

Mishal, the only son of Muneer and Ayesha, was pursuing a diploma in civil engineering in Kozhikode. He also had two younger sisters. Relatives described him as a creative, ambitious youth who had shown interest in exploring business opportunities during his stay in the UAE.

His father reportedly runs a restaurant in Kozhikode. Community volunteers and social workers in Dubai said legal procedures for repatriating the body were nearing completion, with arrangements being made to fly the mortal remains to Kerala for final rites. “This is a heartbreaking loss for the family. Formalities are being completed, and we hope to send the body home soon,” Haneefa said.

Mishal’s death is the second fatal fall involving an Indian teenager in the UAE in 2025. In April, 17-year-old Alex Binoy, a student at Abu Dhabi Indian School, died after falling from a balcony while awaiting his exam results. Authorities in Dubai have once again urged residents and visitors to avoid climbing onto unsecured rooftops and high-rise terraces, especially in densely built areas near flight paths.
