Texas shooting news: In a tragic accident, Indian student Chandrashekar Pole, 28, from LB Nagar, Hyderabad, was gunned down while working a night shift at a petrol station in Denton, Texas, US Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Friday.
According to local media reports, the young student was working alone during the overnight shift at a gas station when an unidentified gunman opened fire. Details regarding the motive remain unclear, and authorities are investigating the incident. “This is a devastating loss for the family and the community,” said a local police spokesperson. Chandrashekar’s death has sent shockwaves through both the local Indian community in Texas and his hometown in Hyderabad.
Family And Political Leaders Express Grief
BRS MLA Sudhir Reddy and ex-minister T Harish Rao made a visit to Chandrashekar's house in Hyderabad to console his grieving family. Harish Rao also conveyed deep condolences in an online message, referring to the incident as "tragic" and calling on the government to act with urgency in repatriating the body of the student. “The pain that the parents are enduring, knowing that their bright and promising son is no more, is heart-wrenching,” Harish Rao stated. “We demand that the state government expedite efforts to bring Chandrashekar’s mortal remains back to his hometown as quickly as possible.”

Who Was Chandrashekar Pole?
Chandrashekar, who was born on April 4, 1997, was recalled by friends and classmates as a diligent and industrious student with ambitions to make his mark in his intended field of study. His relocation to the US was regarded as a first step towards accomplishing greater academic and professional aspirations. Chandrashekar came to the United States in 2023 to undertake higher studies, was studying a postgraduate course in Data Analytics at the University of North Texas, Dallas. Before going abroad, he had completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in Hyderabad.
The fatal accident has served as a reminder of the plight of international students and young working professionals, especially those who are undertaking late-night shifts in foreign places. The local authorities have urged students and workers to be cautious and focus on safety when doing night work.
