Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary-General of Iran-backed Hezbollah, has issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that the group is preparing for unexpected actions. This announcement comes during the eighth month of the Gaza conflict, coinciding with the 24th anniversary of Resistance and Liberation Day.
"You must expect surprises from our resistance," Nasrallah declared in a televised speech. The leader emphasised Hezbollah's readiness to confront Israel in support of the Palestinian cause and Gaza. Hezbollah, a significant force since the Lebanon civil war, has a long history of engaging in hostilities with Israel.
The current Gaza conflict escalated following an attack by the Palestinian Hamas group on October 7, which resulted in over a thousand casualties in Israeli border towns. Since then, Israel has launched a military offensive in Gaza.

However, according to Nasrallah, Israel has failed to achieve its strategic goals, a claim supported by comments from Israeli National Security Council head Tzachi Hanegbi, who admitted that the objectives may take years to realise. Nasrallah pointed to this acknowledgment as a sign of Israel's setbacks.
He further noted the growing international recognition of the Palestinian state, highlighting it as a consequence of the "Al-Aqsa Flood battle," referring to the October 7 Hamas attack.
"The recognition of the Palestinian state by a number of European countries is a great loss for the occupation," he said as quoted by Middle East Monitor.
Moreover, Nasrallah mentioned that Israel is now facing scrutiny from the International Criminal Court (ICC). He accused Israel of violating international resolutions and continuing violent operations in Rafah despite the ICC's order to halt military actions.
"One of the results of the Al-Aqsa Flood and the steadfastness of the resistance is that today Israel is appearing before the ICC (International Criminal Court)," he said.
Israeli officials, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's top aide, Hanegbi, have maintained that Israel has the right to defend itself.
