Over 90 Palestinians were killed after Israel launched fresh strikes on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza on Sunday, news agency Reuters reported quoting Gaza's health ministry spokesman. Palestinian news agency Wafa said the strikes destroyed a residential block belonging to the al-Barsh and Alwan families in the town of Jabalia. Children and women dominate the ones killed in the attack, the news agency added. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital.

As per the news agency many people are believed to be trapped under the rubble. “We believe the number of dead people under the rubble is huge but there is no way to remove the rubble and recover them because of the intensity of Israeli fire,” an official told Reuters by phone.

The news agency also claimed Dawoud Shehab’s son was among the dead. Shehab is the spokesman for the Palestinian Islamic Jihad group.

The Israeli military on Sunday discovered a massive tunnel system in Gaza, which was used for operations against Israel. As per the IDF, the tunnel has a length of four kilometres. "EXPOSED: The biggest Hamas terrorist tunnel discovered. This massive tunnel system branches out and spans well over four kilometres (2.5 miles). Its entrance is located only 400 meters (1,310 feet) from the Erez Crossing--used by Gazans daily to enter Israel for work and medical treatment in Israeli hospitals," read IDF's latest post on X.

An unprecedented war erupted between Hamas and Israel after the former on October 7 showered as many as 5,000 missiles unbridled in the latter’s territory. Over 1,500 people were killed in the strikes. Besides, Hamas militants rampaged Israeli cities and abducted many civilians.

Responding to the misadventure, Israel launched a massive counteroffensive in Gaza. A major chunk of the Palestinian territory has been turned into rubble owing to the fervid attacks by the Israeli military.
