In a significant escalation of conflict in the Middle East, the Israeli military announced the killing of Nabil Kaouk, a prominent figure in Hezbollah, news agency Reuters reported. Kaouk was believed to be a potential successor to the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an airstrike in Beirut just a day earlier. The development comes amid Israel’s ongoing assault on Lebanon, targeting numerous Hezbollah installations.

Hezbollah has not yet commented on Kaouk's fate, but his supporters have been posting mourning messages for him since Saturday.

Hassan Nasrallah Killing

Hezbollah faced a significant setback with the death of its leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was assassinated in a targeted strike by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). The Israeli military said on Saturday it had eliminated Nasrallah in the strike on the group's central command headquarters in Beirut's southern suburbs on Friday. Hezbollah also confirmed Nasrallah had been killed.

In retaliation to this Israeli aggression, Iran has requested a meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding Israel’s actions in Lebanon and the wider region. Following the killing of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran's ambassador to the UN, submitted a letter to the 15-member council addressing the situation.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared that Nasrallah’s death would “not go unpunished,” indicating the potential for a broader regional conflict.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has committed to eradicating both Hamas and Hezbollah, delivered a stark warning to Iran's Ayatollah regime. He asserted that any entity targeting Israel would face serious repercussions, stating, “There is no place beyond Israel’s reach.”
