Parts of the Gulf have been witnessing continuous drone and missile attacks as the US-Iran-Israel war enters its second week. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Dubai reported fire attacks. Kuwait's national oil company announced a "precautionary cut to production". The attacks come a day after Iranian President vowed that it would not attack its neighbouring countries.

Missile Attacks Continue in Qatar

According to the Qatar defence ministry, Iran had fired at least 10 ballistic missiles at the country. Two cruise missiles were fired directly from Iran. The majority of them were intercepted, and no casualties had been reported.

However, later the country stated that Iran had fired nearly a dozen of missiles. Six ballistic missiles and two cruise missiles were among those intercepted. According to reports, two ballistic missiles fell in Qatar's water bodies while two dropped in a deserted area.

Kuwait Airport Targeted

Kuwait's military said Sunday that it had responded "to a wave of hostile drones that penetrated the country's airspace". Fuel tanks at the Kuwait airport were targeted as 15 drones were intercepted and destroyed in Saudi Arabia. Firefighters continued to combat another attack targeting the headquarters of the Public Institution for Social Security.

Saudi Arabia Intercepts Drone and Missile Attacks

Saudi Arabian Defence Ministry claimed they have destroyed three ballistic missiles coming towards Prince Sultan Air Base. The base hosts US troops. At least 17 drones were also intercepted over the Shaybah oil field in the southeast. Riyadh was also attacked by Iran.

Dubai Airport Closes

Amid continuous explosions witnessed in the international city, Dubai Airport was briefly closed. The Dubai media office reported an incident occurred after debris fell amid an interception. Debris from another interception fell on a vehicle and killed a Pakistani driver in Dubai.

As per UAE’s defence ministry, 221 ballistic missiles had been detected since the war started on 28 February, while the number of drones had surpassed 1,300. Apart from Dubai Airport, Abu Dhabi Airport, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Arab, and the US consulate in Dubai were also attacked.

UAE President Zayed Al Nahyan described the Emirates as being in “a period of war" and said they would emerge stronger.

Bahrain reports interceptions

Manama, the capital of Bahrain, reported intermittent explosions each day. Bahrain stated it had intercepted 92 missiles and 151 drones since the war began, which it described as brutal Iranian aggression.

Lebanon Witnesses Strikes

At least four people were killed and 10 injured in a strike on a hotel in Beirut. Lebanon’s health ministry also reported eight people killed in strikes on more than 20 towns and villages.

Iran's Stance

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said his remarks were "misinterpreted by enemy attempted to sow division with neighbours," state TV reported on Sunday, after they were viewed as a decision to suspend attacks on Gulf countries while strikes did not stop.

"It has repeatedly been said we are brothers and must have good relations with neighbours. However, we are forced to retaliate to attacks but this does not mean we have a dispute with a (neighbouring) country or want to upset their people," Pezeshkian added.
