This incident follows a tragic plane crash involving a Jeju Air flight at Muan International Airport in South Korea on December 29, 2024. The Boeing 737-800, carrying 181 people, crashed while attempting to land, resulting in 179 fatalities. Officials described it as the worst aviation disaster involving a South Korean airline in nearly 30 years.
The Jeju Air plane, painted in its signature white and orange livery, overshot the runway after skidding on its belly, colliding with a barrier, and erupting into flames. It departed from Bangkok, Thailand and was landing in Muan around 9 am local time.
