Nepal, already reeling from a catastrophic earthquake that claimed more than 157 lives and has left many homeless was struck by another tremor on the early hours of Sunday. This new earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.6 and occurred around 4 am on Sunday morning.

Earlier, the Himalayan nation was struck by a strong earthquake with 6.4 magnitude on late Friday night. The earthquake's impact was felt as far as Delhi, with its epicenter near Ramidanda in Jajarkot. The most severely affected districts were Jajarkot and Rukum.

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake, the most severe since 2015, struck Nepal, resulting in 157 fatalities and over 160 injuries. The earthquake, with its epicenter in Jajarkot district, approximately 500 kilometers west of Kathmandu, was recorded at 11:47 pm on Friday. It also caused extensive damage to hundreds of houses in Nepal's remote mountainous region.

This new earthquake registered a magnitude of 3.6 and occurred around 4 am in the early hours of Sunday. The epicenter was at a depth of 10 kilometers, situated 169 kilometers northwest of the capital city, Kathmandu, according to the National Centre for Seismology.

Nepal's Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, visited the affected regions to assess the situation and acknowledged the extensive damage. "There has been a lot of damage in the earthquake-affected area. Hundreds of people are injured, thousands of houses have been destroyed, and our government is engaged in relief work. We have deployed the Nepali Army, Nepali Sentinel. The Armed Police Force has been given the responsibility of taking all the injured to the hospitals for rescue through helicopters," said the Nepal PM.

India has also extended support to the earthquake-hit nation in times of devastating damage. Following the earthquake, India released an emergency contact number for Indians in Nepal requiring assistance due to the recent earthquake.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences for the loss of lives and significant damage resulting from the earthquake in Nepal. He extended support and India's willingness to provide any needed assistance.

UN humanitarian teams are on the ground providing urgent assistance to hundreds of people affected by the earthquake that struck the west of the country on Friday.

The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center reported that approximately 159 aftershocks have been recorded following the strong earthquake on Friday night.

Another earthquake of magnitude 3.6 struck Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on Sunday, as reported by National Center for Seismology (NSC).
