Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Saturday claimed that it has won 170 out of 265 National Assembly seats and is ready to form an alliance with Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), Pakistan-based The Nation reported.

This comes despite the fact that the votes are still being counted and that the independent candidates, who were primarily supported by the PTI, have secured victory on 100 seats.

- PTI leader Barrister Gohar Khan alleged that there was an attempt to "shape" the seats won by PTI into defeat. He also called on the party workers to protest outside the offices of Returning Officers (RO) tomorrow, where results got 'delayed', Dawn reported.

- Speaking to reporters on Saturday, he claimed that the PTI has won 170 National Assembly seats out of the 265 where elections were held.

- Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in his Friday remarks that he had tasked his brother, former PM Shehbaz Sharif, to reach out to major parties such as the PPP, MQM-P and others to form an alliance.

- Shehbaz met with PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, at the residence of Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi in the late hours of Friday, Dawn reported citing sources.

- As the announcement of the result is being delayed, the Election Commission of Pakistan is being slammed.

- The counting for the elections held on Thursday is underway, and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the single-largest party but is trailing behind the independent candidates, mostly backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI).

- Although two major political leaders from two separate parties declared victory in the general elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has yet to release the final vote results.

- Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan and other political leaders who are currently incarcerated have cast their votes through a postal ballot from Adiala Jail, Pakistan-based Dawn reported, citing sources.
