US President Donald Trump on Friday drew attention at the White House after he was spotted wearing an unusual lapel pin featuring a cartoon version of himself, which he jokingly referred to as a “Happy Trump” pin, even as he claimed that he is “never happy.”
The pin, worn just below the traditional American flag lapel pin, features Trump with an oversized head and an open-mouthed grin. Reporters noticed the accessory during a meeting with senior executives from global oil companies in the East Room of the White House.
When asked about the pin, Trump appeared amused by the curiosity it generated.“Somebody gave me this. Do you know what that is? That’s called a Happy Trump,” he said, holding out his lapel for reporters to see. He then added, with a smile, “Because I’m never happy, I’m never satisfied. I will never be satisfied until we make America great again. But we’re getting pretty close.” Though Trump did not disclose who gifted him the pin.
Social Media Reacts To ‘Bobblehead Trump’
Images and clips of the pin quickly went viral on social media, with several users describing it as resembling a “bobblehead Trump.” Supporters praised the accessory, calling it “cute” and “iconic,” while many asked where they could purchase one.
Online listings later showed a similar Trump lapel pin available for sale on e-commerce platforms, further fueling interest among supporters.
This was not the first time Trump has worn the same pin in public. He was previously seen sporting it during a February ceremony when Tulsi Gabbard was sworn in as Director of National Intelligence, although he did not comment on it at the time.
Lapel pins featuring Trump’s likeness have appeared before in Washington. In April, Brendan Carr, the Trump-appointed chair of the Federal Communications Commission, wore a gold medallion-style pin shaped like Trump’s profile during a Capitol Hill meeting.

The remarks came during a high-level meeting where Trump hosted executives from some of the world’s largest oil companies to discuss potential investments in Venezuela’s energy sector following recent political developments in the South American nation. Trump said the United States is considering allowing select American firms to participate in rebuilding Venezuela’s oil industry, intending to increase production and secure lower energy prices for US consumers.
Since the September 11, 2001, attacks, US presidents have traditionally worn American flag lapel pins as a symbol of patriotism. Trump continued that tradition, adding the “Happy Trump” pin alongside the flag during Friday’s meeting. The light-hearted moment offered a rare glimpse of humor amid serious geopolitical and economic discussions, drawing chuckles both inside the room and across social media platforms.
