Russia-Ukraine War: The United States President Donald Trump has reportedly urged the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to agree to Russian President Vladimir Putin's demands to end the ongoing war in the region. The US president also warned Zelenskyy that Russia would "destroy" Ukraine if he did not agree to Putin's terms. Zelenskyy and his team were left surprised with Trump's behaviour as the US president "shouted" and threw objects several times during the key meeting, reported the Financial Times. Trump also echoed Putin's demands by asking Zelenskyy to surrender the entire Donbas region to Russia to end the tussle.

The officials familiar with the meeting stated that the US president told Zelenskyy that the issue in Ukraine was a special operation. “Putin told me it’s a special operation, not even a war," Trump reportedly said. He further told Zelenskyy that Ukraine might face massive destruction if he refused to agree to the key terms. Trump also got frustrated as he shouted and threw aside maps of Ukraine’s battlefield during the conversation. “This red line – I don’t even know where this is. I’ve never been there," he told Zelenskyy, adding that he was “sick" of seeing them.

However, Ukrainian authorities did not agree to the proposals and have ruled out any such agreement. Head of Ukraine’s parliamentary foreign affairs committee Oleksandr Merezhko stated that Ukraine will not give the Donbas region to Russia without a fight. “To give the Donbas to Russia without a fight is unacceptable for Ukrainian society, and Putin knows that. It’s about dividing and destroying us from within," Merezhko was quoted as saying.

Zelenskyy reportedly was not happy with the outputs of the meeting and told the US president to take a harsh stance against Russia. Trump's comments came a few hours after Ukrainian drones struck a major gas processing plant in the southern parts of Russia.
