Delhi Red Fort blast: World leaders and diplomatic missions across continents have expressed grief and strong condemnation following the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on November 10, which killed nine people and left several injured.
Condolences poured in from Bangladesh, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Argentina, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Iran, and Australia, with several nations reaffirming solidarity with India in the fight against terrorism.
Sheikh Hasina Condemns Attack, Pledges Support To India
Bangladesh Awami League President and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called the attack “appalling and inhuman,” asserting that “there is no place for extremist terrorism in today’s world.”
In a strongly worded statement, Hasina extended her condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery to the injured. “These terrorist groups, rooted in Pakistan, are attempting to destabilise South Asia,” she said, adding that Bangladesh stands firmly with India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi “in this principled struggle against terrorism.”
Hasina further urged collective regional action, saying, “We must eradicate the roots of terrorism wherever they lie. Those who aid or harbour these groups are enemies of humanity.”
UK, France, Argentina, And Others Express Solidarity
British High Commissioner to India Lindy Cameron shared condolences and urged citizens in Delhi to “follow local advisories and remain cautious.”
While French Ambassador Thierry Mathou said France stands “shoulder to shoulder with India” and extended “deepest condolences to families who lost loved ones.” Argentina’s envoy Mariano Caucino echoed similar sentiments, saying, “Our prayers are with the victims’ families, and we hope for the quick recovery of the injured.”
From Colombo, the Sri Lankan High Commission stated, “Sri Lanka stands in solidarity with the people and government of India during this tragic time.” Morocco’s embassy also expressed “sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the families affected.” Australia’s High Commissioner Philip Green called the incident “tragic and heartbreaking,” while Iran’s embassy extended condolences to “the Indian government and the families of the victims.”
Blast Investigation Underway
According to Delhi Police and fire officials, a car explosion near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort metro station triggered a massive fire, damaging several nearby vehicles. Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that a Hyundai i20 exploded near a traffic signal close to the monument. “All possibilities are being explored. A detailed investigation is underway,” he said.
Security has been intensified across the national capital, with sensitive locations including metro stations, government offices, and the airport placed under tight surveillance. CCTV footage from multiple cameras in the area is being examined to trace possible suspects.
