United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that Iran has said it was in a 'state of collapse' due to the naval blockade and wants Washington to open the Strait of Hormuz.
Taking to Truth Social, the US President said that Tehran conveyed this while being engaged in figuring out their leadership challenges.
He said, "Iran has just informed us that they are in a State of Collapse. They want us to Open the Hormuz Strait, as soon as possible, as they try to figure out their leadership situation (Which I believe they will be able to do!)."
Iran has reportedly shared a proposal to end the conflict after days of uncertainty over peace talks. On Monday, Trump discussed the Iranian proposal with his national security team.

However, according to a US official, cited by news agency Reuters, Trump is unhappy with the latest proposal on resolving the two-month war. It has also been reported that no decision has been made by the US President on the proposal.
The Iranian proposal reportedly suggests the restoration of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, while deferring critical concerns regarding its nuclear programme to future discussions.
A source cited in an Axios report, said that the US President didn't seem inclined to accept the proposal as it would postpone talks over Tehran's nuclear program.
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said, "The president's red lines with respect to Iran have been made very, very clear, not just to the American public, but also to them as well."
Since the US president scrapped a visit planned for Islamabad last weekend, hopes of reviving peace efforts have receded. His special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner were scheduled to visit Pakistan but later the visit was cancelled.
