Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a heartfelt letter to NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, who is expected to return to Earth late Tonight. In the letter, PM Modi has invited the astronaut to visit India.
“Even though you are thousands of miles away, you remain close to our hearts,” reads PM Sh Narendra Modi’s heartfelt letter sent to Sunita Williams. PM Modi further expressed concern for the 'Daughter of India'.
PM Wrote Letter To Sunita Williams On March 1
The letter dated March 1 has been shared by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on X Today. The letter was made public hours after Ms Williams and her colleague, Butch Wilmore began their 17-hour long journey back home. The letters said that PM Modi had inquired about Williams’ health when he met President Donald Trump and his predecessor, Joe Biden, during his visits to the United States. Williams flew to the orbital lab on June 5 last year.

In the letter, the Prime Minister also mentioned how former astronaut Mike Massimino and the Prime Minister discussed Williams in their meeting in Delhi this month. "We discussed how proud we are of you and your work. Following this interaction, I could not stop myself from writing to you," PM Modi said.
"1.4 billion Indians have always taken great pride in your achievements. Recent developments have yet again showcased your inspirational fortitude and perseverance," PM wrote.
Prime Minister, referring to her father, Deepak Pandey, who was a resident of Gujarat India, said, "I am sure that Late Deepakbhai's blessings are with you as well.” "Even though you are thousands of miles away, you continue to remain close to our hearts. The people of India are praying for your good health and success in your mission," PM Modi told the 59-year-old astronaut.

India's 'Illustrious Daughter'
Calling Sunita Williams, illustrious daughter, PM further wrote, "After your return, we are looking forward to seeing you in India. It will be a pleasure for India to host one of its most illustrious daughters." He also sent his "warm regards" to her husband, Michael Williams.
Two astronauts stuck in orbit for nine months finally departed the International Space Station aboard a SpaceX capsule on Tuesday. The capsule is expected to travel through space, plunge through the atmosphere and ultimately fall to Earth under parachutes before splashing down off the Florida coast around 6 p.m. local time.
