America-Russia Nuclear Deal: Intending to include China in the nuclear deal, US President Donald Trump sought a 'new' and 'improved' nuclear agreement with Russia on Thursday, as the current agreement has expired. However, China, with a large, persistently growing arsenal, although significantly smaller than the US and Russia, has bluntly and publicly rejected the 'pressure' to join the agreement.

Trump, on the social media platform Truth Social, said that rather than extending the 'badly-negotiated' New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty or New START with Moscow, he would want the US to negotiate the deal. The treaty, which was first brokered in 2011, formally expired on Thursday, February 5.

The American President said, "The United States is the most powerful country in the world. I completely rebuilt its military in my first term, including new and many refurbished nuclear weapons."

“Rather than extend ‘NEW START’ (A badly negotiated deal by the United States that, aside from everything else, is being grossly violated), we should have our Nuclear Experts work on a new, improved, and modernized Treaty that can last long into the future,” Trump added on his social media network, Truth Social.

Claiming that he has stopped several potential Nuclear wars, POTUS talked highly of the American arsenal, saying, "We are also adding battleships which are 100 times more powerful than the ones that roamed the seas during World War II - the Iowa, Missouri, Alabama, and others."

What Is New START?

A nuclear deal between the US and Russia, which was brokered in 2011 and expired on Thursday. As per the US Department of State, the New START Treaty enhances US national security by placing verifiable limits on all Russian deployed intercontinental-range nuclear weapons.

Will China Join The New Nuclear Deal With Russia And America

Earlier, Trump stated he would like China to be involved in the new treaty, but Beijing doesn't seem to be giving heed to the offer as its foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said, “China’s nuclear forces are not on the same level as those of the United States and Russia, and China will not participate in disarmament negotiations at this stage."
