UK Racist Sexual Assault: A Sikh woman in her twenties was reportedly raped in broad daylight in a racially aggravated attack in Oldbury, West Midlands. Police are urgently seeking two men in connection with the assault, which has sparked outrage in the local community.
The victim, a British-born Sikh woman, told authorities that the attackers made racist comments during the assault, including statements telling her to “go back to your own country.” The assault occurred near Tame Road at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday. West Midlands Police confirmed that the attack is being treated as a “racially aggravated” incident.

Authorities are appealing for public assistance in locating the suspects. The first man is described as having a shaved head, a heavy build, and wearing a dark sweatshirt with gloves. The second suspect was reportedly wearing a grey top with a silver zip.
Sandwell Police have cordoned off the area near Tame Road and are investigating the incident using CCTV footage and forensic analysis. Chief Superintendent Madill said extra patrols would be deployed to reassure the public. Officers are urging anyone with information about the suspects to contact them via 101, quoting log 798 of September 9.
Community Reaction and Political Condemnation
The local Sikh community has expressed deep anger and concern over the racist attack. Chief Superintendent Kim Madill of Sandwell Police acknowledged the community’s distress, saying, “We fully understand the anger and worry that this has caused, and we are doing everything we can to identify and arrest those responsible. Incidents like this are incredibly rare.”
Labour MP Gurinder Singh Josan called the attack “truly horrific,” adding that police are working closely with the victim at her own pace. British MP Preet Kaur Gill condemned the incident, stating that both racism and misogyny have no place in Britain and emphasizing the right of the Sikh community to feel safe. Another MP, Jas Athwal, described the attack as “vile, racist, and misogynistic” and warned that rising racial tensions are leaving young victims traumatized.

This attack comes shortly after another hate crime targeting the Sikh community in Wolverhampton, where two elderly Sikh men were assaulted by teenagers, their turbans forcibly removed. The Sikh Federation (UK) has condemned the attack and called on politicians to take a strong stance against violent racism. Authorities stress that the attack is being treated as an isolated incident but urge the public to remain vigilant. “We are doing everything possible to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and that the community feels safe,” said Madill.
