In her first reaction on Donald Trump’s landslide victory in US Presidential Polls, would-be-first-lady Melania Trump expressed confidence about the fate of the United States, asserting that the ‘freedom’ of people will be safeguarded in the new regime.

“The majority of Americans have entrusted us with this important responsibility. We will safeguard the heart of our republic – freedom. I anticipate the citizens of our nation rejoining in commitment to each other and rising above ideology for the sake of individual liberty, economic prosperity, and security. American energy, skill, and initiative will bring together our best minds to propel our nation forward forevermore,” she said in a post on X.

Donald Trump, while declaring his victory over Kamala Harris, on Wednesday said his triumph was the biggest political comeback in the history of the United States, reiterating that all the promises made during the campaign would be fulfilled.

“This was a movement like nobody's ever seen before, and frankly, I believe this was the greatest political movement of all time. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” Trump said.

“We are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help...We are going to fix our borders, fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight. It is now clear that we have achieved the most incredible political win,” he added.

US Vice President Kamala Harris conceded the presidential election to Donald Trump. She, however, vowed to continue to fight for the cause of her party. "While I concede the election, I do not concede the fight that fuelled this campaign. Fight for freedom, opportunity, dignity for all people," she said in her speech.

Donald Trump will be the oldest President during his inauguration scheduled on January 20.
