Iran-US Peace Talks: Amid the ongoing war in the Middle East, the United States has asked Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a ceasefire, reported Axios. Earlier on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump, in a Truth Social post, claimed that Tehran approached him for a truce. He asserted that the talks will only be considered if Tehran allows ships to pass through the Hormuz, adding that the US has achieved all its motives. However, Iranian officials denied any such direct talk attempts with the Trump administration.
As per the reports, the US president also spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for a possible ceasefire in the region. In his post, Trump asserted that the US will continue the military operation until the Hormuz is open, free, and clear. "We will consider when the Hormuz Strait is open, free, and clear. Until then, we are blasting Iran into oblivion or, as they say, back to the Stone Ages!!!", Trump wrote.
However, Iranian officials stated that there was not any direct conversation with the US, adding that the demands from the Trump administration were "irrational". "Messages have been received through intermediaries, including Pakistan, but there is no direct negotiation with the US," Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei was quoted as saying by the ISNA news agency.
In his White House address on Wednesday, Trump clarified that the US will continue the attacks until its objectives are fully achieved. "We will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. Thanks to the progress we've made, I can say we are on track to complete all of America’s objectives shortly, very shortly," Trump asserted.
The war between Iran and the joint forces of the US and Israel has already completed a month with no signs of immediate peace in the region.
