- US forces to 'finish the job' in Iran.

US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said US forces will 'finish the job' in Iran as soon as 'core strategic objectives are nearing completion' during his prime-time address. He asserted that the Strait of Hormuz will be opened up “naturally” when the Iran war is over. During his speech, he refrained from declaring any timeline of war completion, triggering a negative impact on stock market.
- He instead repeated his calls for countries that rely on Gulf oil to take on the burden of reopening and securing the waterway, not the US, which he said does not need energy supplies from the region. Western allies, however, have resisted joining a war that he and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu started without consulting them.
- Trump claimed significant progress had been made towards achieving his goals in the war with Iran, which are to destroy the country's missile production and Navy, ensure its proxies can no longer destabilise the region and guarantee Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon.
- In his first address to the nation since the start of the Iran war, Trump says the military action is not for getting any of the country's vast resources, including oil, but instead to help America's allies.

"We're now totally independent of the Middle East, and yet we are there to help," he said. "We don't have to be there. We don't need their oil. We don't need anything they have." But, he added, "we're there to help our allies."
- Speaking in the Cross Hall at the White House, Trump said Wednesday night that Operation Epic Fury's actions over the past month meant that Iran's "ability to launch missiles and drones is dramatically curtailed, and their weapons factories and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces."
- Trump also said that the country's "navy is gone, their air force is in ruins," and the country's leaders are now dead."
- He also said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps "is being decimated as we speak."
This is Trump's first prime-time speech since launching strikes alongside Israel more than a month ago.
He maintained that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon, calling such a prospect "an intolerable threat."
- Though he and his administration insisted that the US and Israel obliterated Iran's nuclear program in strikes last summer, he said Wednesday that Iran sought to rebuild its nuclear program after those strikes at a new different location.
- He did not offer details but said it indicated Iran was not backing away from its nuclear ambitions. He also said Iran was building a vast arsenal of ballistic missiles that were a threat to America's homeland.
- Thousands of additional US troops are heading to the Middle East. Gulf allies are urging Trump to finish the fight, arguing that Tehran hasn't been weakened enough. And yet Trump himself has predicted the US will be done "within maybe two weeks."
