People in Gaza have been living through war for nearly two years now. Imminent threats, water shortages, and destroyed homes have disrupted lives affecting countless families. Children, especially, have suffered a lot, lost their loved ones, and seen their homes damaged. Amid this, a video has emerged online showing how the conflict has changed children’s daily activities.

Gaza Kids Hold Doll Funerals

In the video, instead of playing games like hide and seek, kids are seen holding funerals for their dolls. They are seen carrying dolls on makeshift stretchers and mimicking the losses they have experienced firsthand. The video has been shared by Ika Ferrer Gotic, a prominent Bosnian-born broadcast journalist. It shows five children walking in a line with a doll covered in dust, carrying it as though it were a loved one. Sharing the video on X, Gotic wrote, “Gaza children hold funerals for dolls reflecting a generation shaped by war.”

Netizens React To Viral Video

The video has captured the attention of netizens, who have responded emotionally with heartbroken comments. Many users have pointed out the trauma the children have been through in Gaza. “Heart Breaking. They don't even know the meaning of it. They just did what they saw on a daily basis and thought it's a play. No child should go through something like this,” a user wrote.

Another user commented, “Shame on us. Saw the post on the eve of Good Friday. Crucification continues. Crucification of childhood dreams, innocence and future. Can we preach peace to these children?” A third user wrote, “A whole generation of lost childhood, lost innocence, and a lifetime of carrying trauma IF they survive that long.”

According to The Guardian, citing the Lancet Global Health, over 75,000 people were killed in Gaza in the first 16 months of the war, which began on October 7, 2023, after Hamas launched strikes on Israel.
