The suspect in the security breach at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner on Saturday has been charged with attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump.

Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, appeared at a federal courthouse in Washington, DC. If convicted, Allen will face a life sentence.

What Happened At The Dinner?

US President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance and several senior officials and journalists, on Saturday were attending the dinner at the Washington Hilton in Washington, DC, when the situation unfolded.

All of a sudden, Allen bypassed security and fired shots as he moved towards the hall. He was arrested by law enforcement while the president and vice president were taken to safety.

Who Is Cole Allen?

Allen completed his graduation from California Institute of Technology. He is a mechanical engineer, computer scientist, indie game developer, and part-time teacher based in the Los Angeles area.

After graduating from California State University-Dominguez Hills with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 2017, he went on to acquire a Master of Science in Computer Science.

Allen wrote his family members what has been called an anti-Trump diatribe around 10 minutes before he started shooting.

The document, which was signed by "Cole 'coldForce' 'Friendly Federal Assassin' Allen," detailed his motivations, his intended victims, and his evaluation of the venue's security measures.

"When you are oppressed, you should turn the other cheek. I'm not the one that was sexually assaulted in a prison. I'm not the fisherman who was put to death without charge or trial. I'm not a child malnourished, a schoolchild blown up, or a teenage female mistreated by the numerous crooks in this regime. According to a story by The New York Post, he stated, "Turning the other cheek when someone else is oppressed is not Christian behaviour; it is complicity in the oppressor's crimes."

He further stated, "I am no longer willing to permit a paedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes."
