Tata Sierra Vs Maruti Suzuki Victoris: The mid-size SUV segment is getting tougher by the day, with several passenger vehicle OEMs upping the ante with the features and equipment that they are offering. The Tata Sierra, launched yesterday, is the latest entrant making waves with its aggressive pricing, ranging from Rs 11.49 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), and segment-first features such as a triple-screen layout, 19-inch alloy wheels, and an augmented reality head-up display. Here's how this latest entrant stacks up against the Maruti Suzuki Victoris on paper:

The Tata Sierra features a 1,498cc, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine, whereas the Maruti Suzuki Victoris uses a 1,462cc, 4-cylinder, NA petrol mill. While both SUVs have similar power figures, the Sierra edges out the Victoris with its torque output. The table below gives you the details:

The Sierra is 60mm taller and 46mm wider than the Victoris, but the latter has the upper hand in terms of length. Tata's new SUV boasts a 2,730mm-long wheelbase, 130mm longer than the Victoris. Its boot space is rated at 622 litres, one of the largest in the segment. Its 205mm ground clearance and 19-inch wheel size offer a competitive advantage over the Victoris.

The base-spec Tata Sierra 1.5P-6MT is priced at Rs 11.49 lakh, whereas the Maruti Suzuki Victoris 1.5P-5MT starts at Rs 10.49 lakh. The Victoris petrol-AT, on the other hand, ranges from Rs 13.36 lakh. All prices are introductory, ex-showroom, and will go up eventually. Tata will reveal the complete price list of its Sierra in the first week of December.
