BMW Motorrad has unveiled three new adventure motorcycles: the F900 GS, the F900 GS Adventure, and the F800 GS. Anticipated to launch in India by late 2023, BMW's competitive pricing strategy for existing models suggests that these new versions will be attractively priced. These motorcycles will be competing in the heavy segment of 900cc.
The most significant transformation done by BMW in the bike is its weight reduction that has been achieved through the implementation of a lighter sub-frame and a reduction in body panels, resulting in a 14 kg decrease, bringing the total weight down to 219 kg. These alterations were made with the intention of enhancing the bike's suitability for off-road terrain.
BMW GS - Design
BMW has gone with a more subtle design for the new F900 GS. The bike's front-end now features a rally-inspired appearance, similar to the Yamaha Tenere 700 and Aprilia Tuareg 660. The prominent front beak has been replaced by a forward-angled windscreen. Additionally, the standard endure-style seat and visible white subframe contribute to a rugged appearance.
BMW GS - Features
The latest BMW Adventure motorcycles get a range of features which include a TFT instrument cluster, LED lighting, keyless ignition, and dynamic traction control. Additionally, it includes ABS Pro designed for cornering and a Dynamic Brake Light. For even more advanced control, the GS model introduces two standard riding modes: Rain and Road. BMW offers an optional "Riding Modes Pro" package, enabling riders to manage engine drag torque control and Dynamic Brake Control (DBC).
F900 GS Adventure has similar powertrain configuration as the F900 GS and the F800 GS but receives some extra features like an adjustable touring windscreen, a bigger 23-litre fuel tank and a comfier seat. It also has different wheels and suspension. Plus, the crash bars and saddle boxes come as standard. The F800 GS on the other hand is a road variant, so it gets smaller wheels at the front and suspension with lesser travel.
BMW GS - Powertrain
The F900 GS boasts an upgraded engine, delivering enhanced power performance. The new powertrain generates 105bhp and reaches a peak torque of 93 Nm. In contrast, the F800 GS produces 85 bhp and a peak torque of 91 Nm.
