Hyundai Tucson Safety Rating: The Hyundai Tucson facelift has scored an impressive 5-star rating in the latest round of Latin NCAP crash tests. The model tested was manufactured in Korea and the Czech Republic, and had 6 airbags and ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard. The model also came equipped with additional ADAS features, albeit as optional extras, helping Hyundai's Tucson SUV secure 5 stars. The Tucson had received a 3-star safety rating three years ago under the existing Latin NCAP testing protocols, with the model featuring standard side airbags, side curtain airbags, three-point belts for all, seatbelt reminder for the front passenger position, ESC, and a speed limiter.

On Hyundai's request, Latin NCAP assessed the updated Tucson across several parameters, including frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash protection, pedestrian safety, and ESC performance. A frontal crash test on the hybrid version was also performed, revealing an unstable structure due to additional components (electric motor and battery). Despite that, the SUV's overall performance was 'robust enough' to secure the five stars, with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Support Systems (LSS), and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) playing a significant role.
