The Czechian automaker, Skoda Auto has revealed the much anticipated Kodiaq SUV for the international markets. The new Kodiaq will be more spacious while getting new features and technology. Skoda has also brought in a plug-in-hybrid powertrain with the new Skoda Kodiaq for the first time.

New Skoda Kodiaq - Design

In terms of design, the new Kodiaq has undergone some minor but significant changes like the front fascia of the SUV has been revamped with a contoured grille, new Matrix LED headlights, and a more massive bumper. The sides will look similar to the previous model except for the new alloy wheel options ranging from 18 to 20 inches. At the back, the SUV gets a new wraparound tail light design featuring a full-width LED bar across the back.

New Skoda Kodiaq - Interior

The new-gen Kodiaq SUV boasts a new interior that has been designed using eco-friendly materials. Some of the notable features include a central infotainment screen, with options for either a 10-inch or 13-inch display, 10-inch digital driver display that incorporates Skoda's Virtual Cockpit, a dual 15-watt wireless charging pad, automatic climate control and an optional head-up display. The gear selection will be mounted on the steering wheel, freeing up space in the console area for better convenience. The dimensions of the Skoda SUV have been increased as the new Kodiaq now measures 4.76 metres long which is six centimetres longer than the existing Kodiaq that is sold in India currently. This will create more room for third-row passengers. Despite maintaining the same 2.79-meter wheelbase, the five-seater version offers increased boot space from 910 to 2,105 litres.

New Skoda Kodiaq - Powertrain

The Kodiaq SUV will come with a range of powertrain options that include both petrol and diesel engine, in addition to a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The new Kodiaq iV plug-in hybrid generates a power output of 204 bhp and 350 Nm of torque. Skoda claims this SUV can run on an electric-only range of approximately 100 kilometres. Additionally, Skoda offers a 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine with an output of 150 bhp and 250 Nm of torque that also features a mild hybrid powertrain. The lineup also includes two 2.0-litre TDI diesel engines, delivering power outputs ranging from 150 hp to 193 hp, as well as a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine with 204 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The SUV will be equipped with an all-wheel drive technology and all engine options will be paired with a DSG gearbox.

New Skoda Kodiaq - India Launch and Price

However, there is no information on whether the mild-hybrid powertrain options will be launched in India. The new-gen Skoda Kodiaq is expected to be launched in India in 2024. The current-gen top-spec model sold in India is priced at around Rs 42 lakh (ex-showroom) so it is fair to say that this revamped new-gen Kodiaq will be priced more than this. Also, the new Kodiaq will now be sold as a CBU unit in India so the prices are expected to increase significantly.
