Tata Nexon Sales: Tata Motors' passenger vehicle sales in September 2025 have surpassed the 60,000-unit mark, marking a new high for the brand. Of the total units sold (60,907 to be precise), the brand sold 59,667 units in the Indian market, representing a 47 per cent YoY (year-over-year) increase. This is thanks to the rollout of the GST 2.0 rates last month, coupled with the buoyant festive spirit.
Tata Nexon Leads Sept. 2025 Sales Chart, Overtaking Maruti Suzuki Dzire
Tata's popular Nexon and Punch SUVs, among the top 5 best-selling models in September, helped drive the brand's highest-ever monthly passenger vehicle sales. The former bagged 22,573 units, becoming the country's bestselling car and the top-selling SUV last month. The latter, on the other hand, clocked 15,891 units, securing the fifth spot in the sales chart.
Maruti Suzuki's Dzire maintained the second position with 20,038 units, up from 16,509 units in August 2025. The brand, despite selling around 1.33 lakh (1,32,820 to be precise) units in September, registered an 8.4 per cent decrease compared to the corresponding period of the last financial year (September 2024: 1,44,962 units). Having said that, the Swift, Baleno, and Wagon R compact models, among the top 10 bestsellers, offered a glimmer of hope, with Maruti Suzuki reporting a 10.6 per cent YoY increase to 66,882 units from 60,480 units.
Tata Nexon: Why is it Tata's Best?
The Tata Nexon's triumph in September 2025 reflects its strong positioning in the compact SUV segment, once Maruti Suzuki's turf. With a well-equipped cabin, multiple powertrain options, robust safety equipment, and a competitive price tag, the Nexon compact SUV continues to spearhead Tata's passenger vehicle sales.
Under the hood, the Nexon offers a range of powertrain options, appealing to a wider swath of buyers. A 1.2-litre turbo petrol is paired with 5MT, 6MT, 6AMT, or 7DCA gearboxes, while a 1.5-litre diesel unit is available with 6MT and 6AMT options. There is also a 1.2-litre petrol-CNG powertrain offered with 6MT. For eco-conscious buyers, Tata offers two battery options – 30kWh (with 350km range) and 45kWh (with 489km range).
