Tesla All Set To Sell Made-In-China Electric Cars In India, Showroom To Open In July

Tesla India Showroom:  Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. is all set to open its first showrooms in India, as soon as July 2025, Moneycontrol reported, citing sources. The Musk-led EV brand, Tesla, is currently experiencing a decline in sales in European and Chinese markets, and it is expected to formally begin operations in India, the world's third-largest automotive market, next month.

Tesla India: Brand’s First Car

As per several reports, Tesla has already imported the first set of cars to be offered in the Indian market from July 2025. The brand is expected to begin its journey in India with the Model Y electric SUV, which is the world’s top-selling electric car. The American electric car brand is expected to import rear-wheel drive models of its Model Y cars from its China-based factories.

Tesla India Showroom: The First One

Several media reports indicate that the electric car brand will open its first showroom in Mumbai, followed by a showroom in the national capital, New Delhi. The car brand has already imported car Accessories, Merchandise, Spares, and Supercharger Components from countries like America, China, and the Netherlands.

Tesla India Car Prices

Tesla has already imported around 5 new Model Y cars from its Shanghai factory, reported Bloomberg, citing import documents. As per the documents, the cars had a declared price of Rs 27.7 lakhs, and they attracted import duties worth Rs 21 lakhs. The Brand is expected to offer its Model Y car in India for a price tag of 52,000 USD, around Rs 45 lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Model Y is offered in America for 44,990 USD, around Rs 38.8 lakhs (Ex-showroom).
