Volvo EX90 And EX30: Swedish automobile manufacturer Volvo Cars has announced its plans to introduce two new electric cars in India by 2025. These electric SUVs, the Volvo EX30 and Volvo EX90, are expected to be launched in India next year. Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director at Volvo India, confirmed the upcoming launch of these two electric vehicles on Tuesday. Volvo has not disclosed the exact launch dates for the EX30 and EX90 electric SUVs in India, however, it has confirmed that both models will be brought to the country as completely knocked-down (CKD) units for sale. Currently, Volvo offers two electric cars in India, namely the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge electric SUVs.

Volvo EX90 - Details 

The Volvo EX90 electric SUV will serve as the brand’s flagship EV, based on the XC90 SUV. In terms of exterior design, the Volvo EX90 features the brand's iconic Thor's Hammer LED headlights, a blanked-off grille similar to the XC40 Recharge, flush-fitting door handles, 22-inch alloy wheels and C-shaped split LED tail lamps. Inside the Volvo EX90, the electric SUV features a 14.5-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment system powered by Google OS, with 5G connectivity for over-the-air (OTA) updates.

The Volvo EX90 is powered by a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain that offers two power and torque output levels. The base model produces 408 bhp of power and 770 Nm of torque, while the higher variant delivers 517 bhp power and 910 Nm of torque, both capable of reaching a top speed of 180 kmph.

Volvo EX30 - Details 

Contrastingly, Volvo EX30 is the smallest electric car in Volvo's lineup and is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds, quickest among all Volvo EVs. On the exterior, the Volvo EX30 showcases a closed grille with the Volvo logo at the front, signature Thor hammer-shaped LED headlights, and wrap-around taillights at the rear. On the inside, the EX30 features a minimalist design with specific features such as a flat-top-and-bottom steering wheel and a central 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Talking about the battery specs and range, the Volvo EX30 will be offered with two battery pack options. The base variant is fitted with a single motor producing 272 bhp of power, paired with a 51 kWh battery providing a range of 344 km on a single charge. The Extended Range variant features the same motor but with a larger 69 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 480 km. The top-of-the-range Twin Motor Performance variant boasts dual electric motors producing 428 hp of power, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds and offering a range of 460 km on a single charge.
