Bihar Assembly Elections: The Congress and RJD workers came face to face in Dehri Assembly constituency in Bihar's Rohtas district over the filling of forms related to Mai BahinYojna.
The row erupted after Congress opened a counter at Gandhi Smarak while the RJD opened its counter at a hotel in the same constituency. The crowd swelled at the Congress counter in comparison to that of the RJD. As the seat is currently held by RJD, Congress's counter in the constituency has irked the workers of the Tejashwi-led party.
There are also speculations that Congress is preparing to take claim. The incident showcased a lack of coordination between two key parties of the Mahagathabandhan (Grand Alliance).
RJD MLA accuses Congress
RJD MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh has openly accused the Congress of taking money for filling the forms. Alleging irregularity, he stated that the RJD has opened 10 counters where no money is being taken.
Women from Barun and Navinagar blocks of the bordering Aurangabad district are coming to the Congress counter. Geeta Devi from Hasanpura village of Barun block and Sajiya Praveen from Dehri said that to avail the benefits of the Mai-Behan scheme, they were charged Rs 100 for an Aadhaar card and passbook photocopies, mobile number and form.
Reacting to claims, Congress district president Amarendra Kumar Pandey said that forms were being filled across Bihar on the instructions of Rahul Gandhi.
He added that two members of the IT cell have been deployed, and if the allegations against any worker are proved, action will be taken.
Congress block president Manoj Singh, who claimed to have been given the responsibility of getting the forms filled in Dehri block, said that so far, more than 30,000 women have submitted the forms in both the blocks.
As part of the scheme, the Mahagathbandhan has announced to give Rs 2,500 monthly financial aid to the women in the state.
