Bihar Bridge News: In a significant move towards ensuring bridge safety in Bihar, the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation has signed an agreement with IIT Patna and IIT Delhi to conduct a structural and safety audit of bridges in the state. The agreement was signed in the presence of Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen.

Under this partnership, IIT Patna will prepare health cards for 45 bridges, while IIT Delhi will conduct structural audits of 40 bridges. Based on the audit findings, tenders will be issued for the maintenance of these bridges. The Road Construction Minister emphasised that the safety audit will be conducted in phases, with the first phase focusing on 85 bridges with a length of over 250 meters.

The project has received administrative approval of ₹17 crore from the Road Construction Department. Minister Naveen highlighted that the audit process will involve physical inspections, utilising drone cameras and sensors to assess the condition of the bridges.

The development of a Bridge Information and Management System will also be a key component of this initiative, ensuring that all bridge-related data is systematically recorded and managed.

Key officials present at the signing ceremony included Sandeep Pudlakatti, Secretary of the Road Construction Department; Shirshat Kapil Ashok, Chairman of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation; Jitendra Kumar, MD of the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation; Vaibhav Singhal from IIT Patna; and Arvind K Jha, Dr. Arpit Jain, and Dr. Supratik Gupta from IIT Delhi.

This collaboration marks a significant step towards enhancing bridge safety and infrastructure management in Bihar, reflecting the state's commitment to improving its transportation network.
