Bihar Polls: With just a few days remaining in the voting for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly election, the political temperature of the state is high. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday slammed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav after his videos of celebrating Halloween with his grandchildren surfaced online. The BJP criticised the former chief minister for his earlier statement on Mahakumbh, calling it "meaningless" and celebrating a "foreign" festival. The party reminded the voters of his statements and urged them to not vote for the people who attack the faith of the Hindus.

In a post on X, the official account of BJP Kisan Morcha (BJPKM) stated that while Lalu Yadav is now celebrating Halloween, he once called Mahakumbh "useless". “Don't forget, people of Bihar, this is the same Lalu Yadav who had called the grand festival of faith and spirituality Maha Kumbh useless and is now celebrating the festival of Halloween. Those who attack faith will not get votes from the people of Bihar,” BJPKM stated in its post.

Earlier on the same day, Lalu Yadav's daughter Rohini Acharya shared visuals of her father celebrating the festival with his grandchildren. “Happy Halloween to everyone,” Acharya stated in her post on X. Earlier in February, Lalu Yadav sparked a row after calling Mahakumbh "useless". “The Kumbh has no meaning… It is just meaningless,” Yadav stated in a response to a question on the mass gathering for the occasion.
