Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday asked party workers to remain focused on strengthening the organisation and not get distracted by the ongoing conflict within his family. Speaking at a meeting of RJD legislators in Patna, he dismissed the recent exchanges as a personal matter. “This is an internal family matter and will be resolved within the family. I am there to deal with it,” he told party leaders.
In the meeting, attended by MLAs and senior members, Lalu Prasad asked party workers not to worry about the controversy surrounding his children. According to an IANS report, he said, “The internal dispute will be resolved by the internal people, so you need not worry.”

Lalu’s remarks a day after his daughter Rohini Acharya publicly criticised the party’s functioning and announced that she was quitting politics. In a series of posts on social media on Saturday, Rohini said she was “disowning” her family and blamed the RJD’s poor performance- just 25 seats in the Bihar election- on interference by outsiders. She named Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, an aide to Tejashwi Yadav, as the reason behind her frustration.
After her outburst, she left for Singapore, saying she was being “harassed” at home. She reiterated that she was taking responsibility for the party’s defeat. “I am taking full responsibility for the defeat,” she said.
Her statement triggered further upheaval within the family. On Sunday, Rohini’s sisters Chanda, Ragini and Hema also left Lalu Prasad’s residence, expressing unhappiness over what they described as favouritism towards outsiders. All three said trust within the family had been broken.
Rohini Acharya, a doctor and Lalu Prasad’s second daughter, contested the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Saran but lost to BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy.
