The Patna administration has announced comprehensive guidelines for the upcoming idol immersion ceremonies, strictly prohibiting the immersion of idols in any flowing water, including the Ganga River, under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act. To facilitate the rituals, the Municipal Corporation has constructed 10 artificial ponds near the Ganga ghats and prepared additional artificial immersion sites across the city.

Rules For Puja Committees And Processions

The police administration has mandated the following rules for all puja organisers:

Mandatory Licensing: No idol immersion or procession can be conducted without a valid license. All puja pandals must obtain this license from their respective police stations.

Compulsory Videography: It is mandatory for organizers to conduct videography of all idol immersion processions.

Security And Disaster Management Measures

DM Dr Thyagarajan SM has confirmed that extensive security and safety measures will be in place.

Deployment of Officials: Magistrates and police officers will be deployed in three shifts at all designated artificial ponds and ghats to maintain order.

Disaster Response: To prevent any accidents, disaster management teams—including boats, boatmen, divers, and SDRF teams—will be stationed at every ghat.

Environmental Protection Protocols

In line with guidelines from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and the Solid Waste Management Rules, specific environmental protocols will be enforced.

Waste Segregation: Biodegradable materials such as flowers, clothing, and decorations will be collected separately from the idols before they are immersed in the artificial ponds.
