BCCI unveiled the16-member Indian cricket team's squad for the first two Tests against England. Rohit Sharma will lead the side as the captain. The major exclusion from the squad was of Ishan Kishan.
Ishan Kishan's absence from India's squad in the ongoing Afghanistan T20I series raised eyebrows, especially considering his role as the preferred wicketkeeper-batter in the format.
After Kishan’s decision to take a break from the South Africa tour, he was left out of the home T20Is with reports suggesting that the BCCI's decision might be rooted in disciplinary concerns. The mystery deepens with his exclusion from the test squad, further fueling speculation about potential disciplinary issues.

KS Bharat made a return to the test cricket circuit after the World Test Championship Final against Australia. Dhruv Jurel has been included as Bharat’s deputy in the squad for the wicketkeeping rule. It is interesting to note tha KL kept the wickets for India in the South Africa tour.
The batting lineup includes the likes of Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul. The squad boasts a strong spin department with the inclusion of R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav providing a variety of options on different pitches.
The pace attack will be spearheaded by Jasprit Bumrah, serving as the vice-captain, along with the talented Mohammad Siraj, Mukesh Kumar and the promising Avesh Khan.
