IND vs WI: The hosts have suffered a huge blow as star all-rounder Washington Sundar has picked up a finger injury just one day before the first Test match against West Indies. Sundar has been an important part of the Indian Test team, and it will definitely be a blow if he doesn't play in the series opener, which will begin on October 2, in Ahmedabad.

Washington Sundar experiences discomfort due to a finger injury

He did play a huge role in the five-match Test series against England. After scoring 284 runs at a brilliant average of 47.33, Sundar showed his brilliant spin-bowling prowess and had taken seven wickets after playing in 4 Test matches.

But it looks like he has picked up a finger injury while bowling just one day before the series opener against the West Indies. According to a Times of India report, Sundar didn't participate in the fielding session owing to a finger injury and was seen getting treatment by the physios.

According to the report, Sundar was working on his bowling for a longer duration, but the finger injury stopped him from participating in the fielding session. India Test captain Shubman Gill was seen interacting with Mohammad Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Nitish Reddy, and was discussing the seriousness of his injury.

What could be India's combination if Sundar misses out due to a finger injury?

His brilliant performance in England helped him seal a place in India's playing XI for the series opener against the West Indies. Since the finger of his bowling arm was heavily strapped, it wouldn't be surprising if the team management drops him from the playing XI.

And if he is dropped, then Nitish Reddy will replace him, along with Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja as the other all-rounders. At the same time, Kuldeep Yadav will be making a comeback to the Test side after being ignored in the Test series against England.
