India vs Australia 2nd ODI: There was no success for Shubman Gill as he lost the toss in the second ODI match between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday, October 12. India have now lost 17 consecutive tosses in ODI cricket.

The streak began on November 19, 2023, at the World Cup final in Ahmedabad, when Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins won the toss against Rohit Sharma. Nearly two years have passed since then, and India have not won a single toss in ODIs. Shubman Gill is yet to win a toss as India's new ODI skipper.

The Men in Blue had surpassed the all-time record in March as they overtook the Netherlands’ record of losing 11 consecutive tosses in ODIs. The last ODI toss that India have won was in the 2023 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede in Mumbai. Since then, India have not been able to call the coin flip right. However, they have had a win percentage of 62.5 during this period.

Winning 10 out of the 16 ODIs despite losing the toss proves that the Indian team has been overcoming all kinds of challenges and remains one of the strongest teams in the format.

India field an unchanged XI

Despite a lot of talk around the possible changes, India fielded the same playing XI for the Adelaide ODI with an aim to bounce back in the three-match series.

Fans were not left happy as India continued to keep Harshit Rana in the lineup while Kuldeep Yadav missed out once again. India suffered a 7-wicket defeat in the first match in Perth. Australia made a few changes, including the returns of Alex Carey and Adam Zampa.
